Pasue or Resume DNS Zone
To pause or resume a DNS zone in windows 2003 or windows 2008 do the following
1. Suppose your DNS server for root domain is "mydnsserver" and the zone name "myzone"
2. Open DNS Manager using the command dnsmgmt.msc.
3. In the DNS console tree, Select and expand DNS Server on which at least one dns zone exist and right click on zone name.
4. Click pause button and click apply button and finally click ok. Thus pauses the zone
For resuming dns zone:
5. Repeat the steps 1 to 3
6. Click start button and click apply and finally click ok
Note: After pausing DNS zone, Zone resource will be unavailable if no other authoritative servers for the zone exists.
