Create DNS Application Directory Partition using dnscmd

By Default, when DNS is installed, an application directory partition is created at the forest and domain levels. The /CreateDirectoryPartition command allows one to create additional DNS application directory partition.

The following illustrates creating application directory partition for a DNS on command line using dnscmd.

1. Assume the dns server is "dnsserver", dns zone is "myrootdns.com", Name (FQDN) of the new directory partition to be created is ExamplePartition.myrootdns.com".

dnscmd dnsserver /CreateDirectoryPartition ExamplePartition.myrootdns.com
.
To verify the Directory Partition is created in dnsmanager.
.
One can also verify the directory partitions using the dnscmd command below.

dnscmd dnsserver /EnumDirectoryPartitions
