To perform reverse lookup for an IP address, following conditions needs to be satisfied.
1. A reverse lookup DNS zone is to be created for a Domain in which the host computer with the IP address exists.
2. Make sure a PTR record is added for the IP Address in DNS by dns server.
Assume, the domain name is myrootdns.com, the host name for the IP address 192.168.1.200 is dnsclient.myrootdns.com. The following diagram shows a reverver lookup zone and a PTR record for the IP address 192.168.1.200
Now on the command prompt run nslookup 192.162.1.200. The ip address 192.168.1.200 is mapped to dnsclient.myrootdns.com
